June Feature - Hennelly Ceramics

If you've ever picked up one of Diane Hennelly's ceramic pieces, you've probably noticed that it makes you smile. Whether it's an octopus mug, an ocean inspired bowl, or one of her whimsical porcelain creations, her work has a way of bringing a little extra joy to everyday life.

Diane has been working with clay since 2002 and is constantly exploring new ideas, techniques, and materials. She describes pottery as "a beautiful mix of science and art" and loves that there are always new things to learn. Her creative process is what she calls "a never ending string of experiments," often beginning with a simple question: "I wonder what would happen if I..." That curiosity has helped shape a body of work inspired by the ocean, plants, fish, sharks, octopuses, nudibranchs, and the natural beauty that surrounds us here in Hawaiʻi.

What we love most about Diane's work is that it's both beautiful and functional. Her pieces are made to be used, enjoyed, and incorporated into everyday routines. As Diane says, "Drinking coffee out of a handmade octopus mug just tastes better." Her playful approach to pottery reminds us that art doesn't have to hang on a wall to make an impact.

We're so excited to feature Diane as our June Artist of the Month. Her work will be featured in store for 15% off all month long! Stop by to meet the artist through her work and find a piece that brings a little more creativity, color, and joy into your everyday life.
